What do we do? Are we looking for a second job? Shall we change to a better paid one? Shall we reduce expenses? In addition to being natural, economic crises could represent a halt in the unbridled path of consumerism that we have seen grow at the domestic level in recent decades. If we analyze it in this way, to its undeniable negative effects, we could thank it for a positive reading of our expenses and living habits.
It is true that more than one of us has felt the economic and social vertigo that comes from being on the brink of a financial abyss, the kind that we discover when our accounts are in the red and we come to the conclusion that not even the magic of Harry Potter would provide us with an end to life. There could be several theoretical solutions, but in practice we do not always have the necessary time for another job without affecting the essential minimum space that we need to care for ourselves and the family (education, health, security, etc.), nor will there be many working options available because the contraction in this market is one of the first consequences of economic crises.
It is then when we come to the certainty that the solution to the problem involves reducing expenses by applying, in the first place, the principle that many companies resort to: reducing the high added value of certain items that we consume and the interest that we pay to finance their buys. As? Making them ourselves or doing without them.
Take advantage of your creativity
Of course, it is not a question now of learning to bake bread or to make shoes, since there are undoubtedly irreplaceable trades, but we do know of the vast creative capacity of women that is put to the test in times like these and that are frequently poured out in the kitchen, women’s health and beauty, clothing, home decoration and, why not, also the reorganization of companies. It is to this art of reconverting, reusing and renewing that we must turn when it comes to saving expenses. Once convinced that it is necessary to awaken creativity, we can move on to the second step, which is to identify the wrong areas of consumption and then make the corresponding corrections.
The sources of waste are often hidden behind the consumption of energy in the home, be it in the lighting system, cooking, air conditioning or in the general use of electrical appliances. Have you noticed that lately the human species has been in charge of electrifying every device it has found and that in reality we could do without many of them without missing them more than necessary?
A third proposal could be to reassess the budget that we need to breathe easy at the end of the month. If instead of being scared by the total figure, we divide it into the 30 days that make up the period, perhaps we can see, more clearly, that the savings we need are possible. This method makes it possible to change the psychological perception of a phenomenon thanks to the old advice: dividing a problem into parts helps to face it. It is not the same to say that we lack 300 coins to complete the month, than to find a way to save at least 10 coins daily.
