“Since I was a child I was always thinking about the way to be able to modify my own space, my room. I was concerned above all with lighting and to feel more comfortable I looked for how to illuminate indirectly, avoiding general dim and overhead lights. I immediately saw clearly what It was what I wanted to do: try to create for others the perfect space that I always tried to create for myself.” Alicia Mesa’s dreams came true thanks to her tenacity and effort.
Along the way, he graduated in Interior Architecture at the School of Decorative Arts in Madrid, where he received the Bronze Medal award from his class, and completed a Master’s Degree in Interior Design at the University of Salamanca. If it is a commercial space, I take into account the specific needs of that business and the type of public it is going to target, while in private homes, I also try to make them a faithful reflection and shelter for the people who inhabit them. I consider my work finished when the space is dressed even without having included any furniture or object”.

In 2008 Alicia launched her own blog, becoming one of the first Spanish interior designers with a blog. It is not a space for advice, but a personal space that allows you to learn more about this Asturian interior designer: her influences, her opinions on different architects, her vision of the profession, the artists who inspire her, new trends, articles what do you like, your jobs, places you visit…
From this blog, Alicia Mesa also tries to vindicate the role of the interior designer: “Before, we were seen more as decorators than as creators of spaces. That is, we were the ones who hung the curtains and chose the type of sofa and where it was placed. Now, We project the space from the beginning, we design the distribution, the lighting, the installations and the finishes”.
